PITTSBURGH DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP

6TH STREET CORRIDOR

With over 20 small businesses, a range of food offerings at all price points, and two theaters, 6th Street is one of the most lively series of diverse blocks in Pittsburgh. Located inside the Cultural District at the historic terminus of the Roberto Clemente Bridge, 6th Street has historically been an important corridor connecting the Golden Triangle to the North Shore and the North Side. The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) hired W|W to create a branded experience that helped activate this corridor through pedestrian-level placemaking with site-specific environmental design and strategic arrival points, creating special moments as visitors navigate the streetscape.

A SENSE OF PLACE

The center of the identity is a logo mark that references the iconic view looking down the corridor, with the 6th Street Bridge rising at the end of the block. The logo interacts with a playful mix of patterns, icons, and colors, all of which show up along the streetscape as gateway markers, street pole banners, building and street murals, and other sidewalk-level interactions. In total, these reoccurring elements help shape how people experience a thriving, urban Downtown.
